ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of soluble copolymers, which contain hydroxyl groups, can be crosslinked with organic polyisocyanates and are based on mixtures of styrene, methyl methacrylate, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, acrylic acid and glycidyl esters of .alpha.-alkylalkanemonocarboxylic acids and/or .alpha.,.alpha.-dialkylalkanemonocarboxylic acids, by heating in inert organic solvents in the presence of polymerisation initiators and optionally chain stoppers, simultaneous esterification and polymerisation taking place.
