ABSTRACT:
Process for producing easily moldable composition of an acetylene high polymer by polymerizing acetylene using a catalyst system composed of (A) a transition metal compound containing at least one transition metal from Groups IVa, Va, VIa and VIII and (B) an organometallic compound containing at least one metal from Groups IIa, IIb, IIIb and IVb, the polymerization being carried out in a polymerization solvent containing the transition metal compound in a concentration of 0.0001 to 0.1 mole/liter to form a gel-like material consisting of an acetylene high polymer having a fibrous microcrystalline structure and the polymerization solvent.
