Latex adhesives having a Tg of -60.degree. to 0.degree.C. characterized by superior rheological properties, are prepared without the use of additional thickeners from a colloid stabilized latex comprising: 65-90% by weight of the latex polymer solids of an acrylate or methacrylate ester monomer polymerized in 10-35% by weight of the latex solids of a polymeric colloid, the polymeric colloid having a Tg of -40.degree. to 0.degree.C., a number average molecular weight of 2,000 to 10,000 and comprising
