A second cam follower member slidably engages the cam surface at one of a second and a third location thereon when the shaft is respectively rotating in one of a first direction and a direction opposite thereto, the second and third locations being spaced from the first location in opposite directions by equal angular distances. The first and second cam follower members are each operatively coupled to a respective valve of the engine.
