ABSTRACT:
There are disclosed a process for producing a 2-hydroxy-methylene-3,3dialkoxypropanenitrile alkali metal salt (ALVM.sub.2) represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents a lower alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and M represents an alkali metal,
which comprises allowing a 3,3-dialkoxypropanenitrile represented by the formula (II):
