ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a compound of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a cyclic imide group and X, Y, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are as defined herein. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing, and methods of using, compounds of the formula I. Compounds of the formula I are useful in the treatment of diseases related to the production of matrix metalloproteinases and tumor necrosis factor.
