ABSTRACT:
This invention provides a novel chromanol glycoside which is a water soluble antioxidant excellent in heat and pH stability and production method thereof. It is a chromanol glycoside represented by the general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 independently are a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, R.sup.5 is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, or a lower acyl group, X is a monosaccharide residue or an oligosaccharide residue, providing the hydrogen atom of the hydroxyl group of saccharide residue may be substituted by a lower alkyl group or a lower acyl group, n is an integer in the range of 0 to 4, and m is an integer in the range of 1 to 6.
