ABSTRACT:
An insulation displacement terminal is provided for terminating a conductor of an insulated electrical wire. The terminal has a channel-shaped terminating section of a generally U-shaped cross-section provided by a pair of side walls joined by a base wall. A U-shaped distal end of the terminating section includes a conductor-receiving insulation displacing slot extending into each side wall generally parallel to the base wall. Reinforcing flanges extend along free edges of the side walls of the terminating section to prevent collapsing thereof when the conductor is forced into the slots.
