ABSTRACT:
A method of heat treating an aluminum--lithium alloy is provided. The method includes carrying out a succession of at least two artificial aging steps. The first such step is carried out within a first temperature range and one or more further steps are carried out within successively reduced temperature ranges to promote the precipitation of the .delta.' phase of the alloy.
