ABSTRACT:
A color image reading apparatus reduces the required capacity of line memory for regenerating image signals by making the reading points of the respective photosensor arrays closer to one another. The color image reading apparatus includes a plurality of TFT driven photosensor arrays arranged in rows. The photosensor arrays are disposed immediately adjacent to one another to form a photosensing assemblage, which is flanked by switching elements connected to photosensors. Wiring conductors underlie the outer-positioned arrays to allow electrical contacts to be made to photosensors in the intermediate array and associated switching elements.
