ABSTRACT:
N-acyl substituted oxazolidines having the formula ##STR1## in which R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 haloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 thioalkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 haloalkenyl; R.sub.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.6 are independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl and R.sub.5 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or phenyl, are prepared by the reaction of a 2-hydroxyethylamide having the formula ##STR2## with an acetal or ketal having the formula ##STR3## in which R.sub.7 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, in the presence of an acid catalyst.
