ABSTRACT:
A process for decomposing ammonia recovered from coke oven gas through catalytic oxidation in the presence of oxygen gas, which comprises contacting a catalyst containing at least copper oxide or vanadium oxide in a fluidized state with the ammonia vapor. In the process of the invention, the reaction can be conducted at a low temperature of 400.degree. to 600.degree. C. and the generation of NO.sub.x is very small in quantity.
