ABSTRACT:
A 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl derivative having a formula comprising: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, an alkyl or alkylene group having 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, or cycloalkyl or aryl groups having about 5 or 6 ring carbon atoms; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are individually selected from hydrogen, alkyl groups having 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, and cycloalkyl and aryl groups having about 5 or 6 ring carbon atoms; R.sub.4 is selected from hydrogen and alkyl groups having 1 to about 8 carbon atoms; and n is either 1 or 2.
These compounds are useful as UV light stabilizers in plastics and cosmetics (e.g. sunscreens).
