ABSTRACT:
A 2-Substituted-1-naphthol of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or monohydroxy C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl couples with a primary intermediate of the formula: ##STR2## wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or monohydroxy C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl to produce an oxidative dye.
