The invention relates to novel dihydropyridine derivatives of vasodilating activity of the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is aryl selected from the group consisting of phenyl, tolyl, xylyl, cumenyl and mesityl which may have one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, nitro, hydroxy, carboxy and lower alkoxy, or a heterocyclic group containing at least one hetero atom selected from the group consisting of oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur,
