ABSTRACT:
A process for the preparation of 2,3-dichloro-5-acetylpyridine of the formula ##STR1## comprising decarboxylating a compound of the formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.1 stands for methyl or ethyl,
in a mixture of water and a water miscible aprotic solvent.
