ABSTRACT:
A mixture of trialkyl phosphine oxides (HTRPO) was prepared having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are same or different alkyl groups of 5 to 9 carbon atoms and the total number of carbon atoms and the total number of carbon atoms per molecule is from 15 to 27. The mixture of trialkyl phosphine oxides (HTRPO) is useful as an extractant for recovering acids from aqueous solutions.
