ABSTRACT:
A process for producing an optical fiber comprising;
Depositing in a tube silicon and boron oxides, and then,
Depositing oxides of silicon as well as germanium, phosphorus and/or boron, in addition to an additional oxide such as antimony;
Followed by collapsing the tube to form a rod which is drawn into an optical fiber.
