The head has a plurality of pairs of tool mounting surfaces, the pairs being spaced around the axis of the turrent head. The surfaces of each pair are substantially mutually perpendicular, and arranged so that one is perpendicular to the axis of the spindle, and the other parallel thereto, when the pair is brought to a working location by indexing the turret head about its axis.
