ABSTRACT:
There is provided, novel N-chloramine compounds of the 1,4-dichloro-2,2,5,5-tetrasubstituted-3,6-piperazinedione type, having the formula: ##STR1## WHERE R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, which may be the same or different, each represent a member selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and an aryl group.
The compounds encompassed by the above generic formula exhibit antibacterial activity, but most importantly, the compounds encompassed within the above generic formula exhibit enhanced stability over the closest related prior art compounds, when such compounds are employed in aqueous solution for antibacterial application.
