A zoom lens assembly (10) includes a plurality of cam barrels (18, 38, 66) which rotate together within non-rotating lens barrels (12, 34, 54) as the assembly is extended and contracted. A compact focusing mechanism (92-156) travels with the innermost cam barrel (66).
