ABSTRACT:
A two-group zoom lens includes a first lens group having a negative refractive power, and a second lens group having a positive refractive power, zooming being effected with the spacing between the first lens group and the second lens group being relatively varied. The first lens group comprises, in succession from the object side, a first lens component having a negative refractive power, a second lens component having a negative refractive power and having an aspherical shape in which the negative refractive power becomes weaker toward the marginal portion, and a third lens component having a positive refractive power. The zoom lens satisfies the following condition: ##EQU1## where .vertline.As-s.vertline. is the difference in the direction of the optic axis between the aspherical surface of the second lens component on the most marginal edge of the effective diameter thereof and a reference spherical surface having a predetermined vertex radius of curvature, f.sub.1 is the focal length of the first lens group, fw is the focal length of the entire system at the wide angle end, and f.sub.L1 is the focal length of the first lens component.
