Phosphor screens for converting X-rays to visible or near visible radiation are provided. These screens comprise in a fluorescent layer at least one lanthanum-, gadolinium or mixed lanthanum-gadolinium-oxy-halide phosphor, a binder for the phosphor and as stabilizer for the phosphor an epoxy compound.
