ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a method for operating a magnetohydrodynamic pump5for a liquid-metal anode1of an X-ray source. It is provided according to the invention that it can be operated in at least two modes, wherein the first mode is a thawing mode in which the liquid metal2is melted in a line3of the liquid-metal anode1, the second mode is an operating mode in which the liquid metal2is pumped through the line3and X-ray beams are produced. In addition, the invention relates to a liquid-metal anode1for an X-ray source with a liquid metal2which is located in a line3, wherein an anode module15is inserted into the line3in the region of focus4, with a pump5for circulating the liquid metal2in the line3and with a cooling system6for the liquid metal2. According to the invention, such a liquid-metal anode1has a magnetohydrodynamic pump5as described above.
