ABSTRACT:
An improvement for a writing instrument consists of an elastomer spacing element disposed within the interior of the writing instrument. The improved writing instrument accepts ink cartridges that are within a range of lengths. Relatively short cartridges are held in place and prevented from independent movement by the spacing element. Conversely, relatively lengthy ink cartridges cause the spacing element to be compressed.
