ABSTRACT:
A worm gear drive has a self locking gear train. The gear train comprises a worm34fitted to a motor shaft32and in mesh with a worm wheel35which drives the output26. The motor shaft32extends between two thrust bearings29, 60having faces54which contact respective axial ends of the motor shaft32. The contact between at least one of the thrust bearings29and the shaft32is adapted to provide a high frictional force.
