ABSTRACT:
A wire-cut electroerosion apparatus for machining a workpiece, using a wire electrode, comprising a current pickup for delivering current to the wire electrode and a power circuit for applying a reverse-polarity voltage across a machining gap through the current pickup with the workpiece being negatively poled and the wire electrode being positively poled to inhibit electrolytic effects on the workpiece. A sacrifice conductor, made of a material such as zinc, having a larger ionization tendency than that of the current pickup, is provided in the vicinity of the current pickup to thereby inhibit undesirable electrolytic effects on the current pickup.
