ABSTRACT:
A driving apparatus for driving a drive shaft, which includes a number of kites and at least one pulling cable, and means for varying the position of the kites, the kites being arranged to follow an ascending path and a descending path, the kites being connected to the at least one pulling cable, which pulling cable engages a driving element which is connected to the drive shaft, and the means for varying the position of the kites are arranged to impose a first position on the kites in the ascending path in which they are subject to an upward force under the influence of the wind, and a second position in the descending path in which the kites, under the influence of the wind, are subject to a lesser upward force than in the ascending path or even are subject to a downward force.
