ABSTRACT:
The wide bandwidth transceiver includes a receiver section, a transmitter section, and a local oscillation module. The receiver section includes a 1streceiver intermediate frequency (IF) stage, a receiver switch module, and a 2ndreceiver IF stage. The 1streceiver IF stage is operably coupled to convert a 1stinbound radio frequency (RF) signal into a 1stinbound IF signal based on a 1stlocal oscillation of the local oscillation module. The receiver switch module passes either the 1stinbound IF signal or a 2ndinbound RF signal, which have similar carrier frequencies, to the 2ndreceiver IF stage. The 2ndreceiver IF stage receives the selected signal from the receiver switch module and based on a 2ndlocal oscillation converts the selected signal into a low intermediate frequency signal. The transmitter section includes a 1sttransmitter intermediate frequency (IF) stage, a 2ndtransmitter IF stage, a power amplifier and a transmitter switch module. The 1sttransmitter IF stage is operably coupled to convert an outbound low IF signal into a 1stoutbound radio frequency (RF) signal based on the 2ndoscillation. The 2ndtransmitter IF stage, when operably coupled, converts the 1stoutbound RF signal into a 2ndoutbound RF signal based on the 1stlocal oscillation. The transmitter switching module couples either the 1stoutbound RF signal or the 2ndoutbound RF signal to the power amplifier.
