ABSTRACT:
The threading of the leading end of a fresh web of sheet material through apparatus for cutting or performing other operations on it is assisted by fluid entrainment. Air jets are arranged at gaps between conveyors and roller nips and are directed to support and guide the leading end. Use can be made of the Bernouilli effect, with jets arranged on one side only of the web path.
