ABSTRACT:
A wear-resistant bearing material, and process for making it, comprising hard phase particles, such as Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, substantially uniformly dispersed in a plasma deposited or detonation gun deposited soft ductile metal matrix, such as aluminum bronze, and wherein said particles are sized between about 0.05 microns and about 100 microns, and present in a volume fraction of between about 3% and 50%.
