ABSTRACT:
A refurbished knife holder for wood chippers and a method of repairing wear parts are disclosed. The knife holder includes a machined recess and an insert bonded to the holder at the recess and machined to define the surfaces of the holder. The method includes the steps of preparing the wear part and the insert for bonding and bonding the insert to the wear part by an induction heating operation at approximately 1200.degree. F. A silver alloy filler material having approximately 50% silver and a flow point of approximately 1180.degree. F is employed.
