ABSTRACT:
A wavelength converter is disclosed having a Sagnac interferometer (NOLM, nonlinear optical loop mirror) as its essential part. In order that the wavelength converter can also be used for NRZ (nonreturn-to-zero) signals, it has a 3.times.3 coupler (2) with six ports (6-11).
