ABSTRACT:
A waveform equalizer includes a filter unit, an error estimation unit, a tap coefficient storage unit, and an update amount calculation unit which includes an intermediate calculation unit and an update amount setting unit. Coefficient update amount ΔCi(n) for an ith tap is calculated according to an equationin-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?ΔCi(n)=αi(n)×μ×e(n)×x*(n−i)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?with the multiplication by αi(n) being performed by the update amount setting unit. Here, 0<αi(n)≦1, and αi(n) is a function f(Ci(n−1)) which monotonically increases with Ci(n−1).
