ABSTRACT:
In the hydrodesulfurization of a substantially non-metal containing hydrocarbon oil, the desulfurization is improved by providing from about 1 to about 32 volume percent steam in the gas phase of the reaction zone at a start-of-run temperature ranging from about 550.degree. to about 750.degree. F. The addition of water is discontinued at temperatures above 750.degree. F.
