ABSTRACT:
A treating composition for a porous substrate such as wood is provided in the form of an oil-in-water dispersion comprising a dispersed phase of an organic solvent in relatively low amounts to reduce V.O.C., a water repellent, and a stabilizing surfactant. Optionally, preservatives and resins may be included. Penetration with relatively low organic solvent content is achieved by producing a dispersion having a maximum mean particle size of 3000 .ANG.. Also disclosed is a method of preparing the dispersion with a microfluidizer.
