ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides an IR-absorbing dye suitable for formulating a water-based inkjet ink, said dye being of formula (I):wherein:M is selected from Ni, Pd or Pt;R10and R11are independently selected from C1-30hydrocarbyl, or R10and R11together are joined to form a C2-30hydrocarbylene group;R12and R13are independently selected from C1-30hydrocarbyl, or R12and R13together are joined to form a C2-30hydrocarbylene group;wherein at least one of R10, R11, R12or R13comprises a hydrophilic group.Dyes of this type are especially suitable for use in NETPAGE and Hyperlabel systems.
