A washing and foaming composition containing at least one non-ionic surface-active agent which, in 10% aqueous solution, has a detergency which is greater than or equal to that of a 2% aqueous solution of sodium lauryl-sulphate, together with at least one anionic polymer in proportions such that the ratio of anionic polymer
on-ionic surface-active agent is greater than 0.1:1.
