In a video tape recorder, a digital AV signal which is A/D-converted by an A/D converting section12is separated into a video signal and an audio signal by an audio-video separating section131.In response to a selection operation on an operating section19,the separated digital video and audio signals by an editing section132are edited and then recorded on a hard disk14.The digital video and audio signals which are obtained by performing a reproducing process on the hard disk14are supplied by the editing section132to an audio-video multiplexing section134.The digital video and audio signals are multiplexed by the audio-video multiplexing section134,and then recorded on a D-video tape15.
