ABSTRACT:
The permanent refractory lining of a liquid metal transfer vessel is covered with a removable heat-insulation lining formed of inorganic particles embedded in a binder, the particles being sinterable at the temperature of the liquid metal to be introduced into the vessel. The liquid metal is thus prevented from coming into contact with the permanent lining and any danger of solidification of metal and damage to this latter is consequently removed.
