ABSTRACT:
A variable-crown roll comprises a straight arbor, and a plurality of antifriction bearings which are mounted on the arbor, each of the bearings having a cylindrical outer surface which is sloped with respect to the outer surface of the arbor, the bearings being symmetrically disposed with respect to the lengthwise center of the arbor, the slopes of the outer surfaces of the bearings on one side of the lengthwise center of the arbor being symmetric with respect to the slopes of the outer surfaces of the bearings on the other side of the lengthwise center.
