ABSTRACT:
A microscope illuminator system suitable for both critical source illumination and Köhler-type illumination without substantially altering the elements within the optical path. The system preferably provides a continuous range of adjustment from critical type illumination to Köhler-type illumination, and beyond. Further, the microscope illuminator system preferably employs a fiber optic illuminator providing both incandescent continuous illumination and stroboscopic illumination.
