ABSTRACT:
Solutions of VCl.sub.4 in inert organic solvent are stabilized by incorporation of decomposition retardants being halogenated organic compounds having at least two halogen atoms attached to the same carbon atom and activated by adjacent electron donor groups or carbon-carbon double bonds. One of the especially preferred stabilizers is butyl perchlorocrotonate. The solutions are useful in polymerization processes.
