The invention relates to a glass which is transparent to UV radiation and which, for a thickness of 1 mm and the wavelength of 253.7 nm has a transmission of at least 75%, a linear coefficient of thermal expansion of 3.8.times.10.sup.-6 to 4.5.times.10.sup.-6 K.sup.-1 in the temperature range from 20.degree. to 300.degree.
