ABSTRACT:
There are provided extended-wear lenses formed by polymerizing an organosilicon monomer, a fluoroorgano monomer, a hydrophilic monomer, and a crosslinking agent. The product includes a benzotriazole and/or a benzophenone UV-absorbing agent and is is easily machinable to any prescription, permitting continuous wear, with oxygen permeability in excess of 50.times.50.sup.-11 (cm.sup.2 /sec)(ml O.sub.2 .times.mm Hg) and a receding contact angle of less than 45.degree. C. The bulk of the monomer content is the fluoorgano monomer and/or organosilicon monomer, which content is limited to 35 parts by weight, with lesser amounts being preferred.
