ABSTRACT:
Described is a process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of a smoking tobacco comprising the step of intimately admixing an organoleptic property modifying quantity of a substituted dimethyl dihydroxy benzene or cyclohexadiene represented by the equilibrium mixture of a constituent thereof: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of acetyl having the structure: ##STR2## and nitrile having the structure:
