ABSTRACT:
Benzylpenicillin is prepared by culturing a penicillin-producing microorganism in a medium containing suitable sources of nitrogen, carbon and energy, and inorganic salts. One or more phenylalkanes of the formula ##STR1## wherein n is an integer from 6 to 13 are included within the medium as the sidechain precursor.
