ABSTRACT:
The invention provides a method for inhibition of proliferation of primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells and hematopoietic stem cells, by incubating preparations containing said cells with IFN-.gamma.. The method is especially useful for protecting said cells during purging techniques using cytotoxic treatment, and for protection of said cells during in vivo cytotoxic treatment.
