Methods for improving the anti-friction and wear-reducing properties of lubricating oils by adding to such oils polyfluoro chain-containing amines of the formula ##STR1## or the commercially available mixtures of such materials, wherein n is an integer from 1 to 20, a is two or four, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group, and R.sub.1 and Z are:
