ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a bracket or adapter for a shelving system using slotted mounting supports, in which the bracket has a single tab to provide a universal fit; a shelving system using such bracket; and a method for creating a shelving system with such a bracket to eliminate the need for inventorying a wide variety of brackets to fit the mounting supports of different manufacturers. The bracket has a notch between a main body of the bracket and the tab, with the lower end of a slot to be accommodated in the notch, the tab being passed into the slot. The tab has a supporting surface to provide against an inside face of the mounting support over a wide variety of slot sizes, and the main body has an elongated rearwardly facing surface to abut against an outside face of the mounting support. The tab is configured to facilitate insertion into slots of various lengths and various depths. A flange on the bracket is provided with elongated slots to compensaate for different shelving lengths. The notch has side walls that diverge from each other in a direction from the base of the notch to the opening into the notch, so that an increased range of wall thickness can be accommodated in the notch.
